Travel ASMR: My Favorite Trip Gear

It’s no secret I love travel, adventure and food; however, something you may not know about me is I’m also extremely obsessed with ASMR. For those who have never heard this term before, ASMR — or Autonomous sensory meridian response — refers to a “perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli” (Wikipedia). In other words, when I hear Bob Ross, finger nails scratching suede or a wooden pencil tapping a hard surface, my body is overcome with a sensation simply referred to as “tingles.”

While the whole concept may sound weird to those who don’t experience this sensation, for me it’s something I’ve felt my entire life, although up until recently never knew what it was. Let me also preface there is nothing sexual about ASMR — it’s completely about relaxation, happiness, anxiety relief and sleep aid. For me personally, it’s helped me deal with my anxiety issues as well as sleep soundly.

After following the amazing YouTube channels of ASMRists like ASMRrequests, Heather Feather and GentleWhispering, I’ve decided to make my own ASMR YouTube channel — but with a twist. Instead of doing spa roleplays and whispering general tingly sounds, I would make mine travel focused to be in line with my brand and what I love. Thus, Jessie on Journey TRAVEL ASMR was born.

Above you’ll find my second video for the channel, where I talk about and demonstrate my favorite travel gear — ASMR style. I would truly appreciate any feedback in the comments section on YouTube. Let me know what you liked, didn’t like, would like more of, would love to see a video on or anything else you feel like saying.

I’m hoping to make this a weekly or at least bi-weekly column on the site, depending on your feedback. And if you like ASMR and travel, please subscribe to my channel by clicking here.

Happy trails!
